This week I have been reading a lot about God's love and the sacrifice He has made for me. One thing I realized is that God talk's a lot about love throughout the whole Bible. This week after reflecting I really realized that to some students I show God's love all the time and others that get on my nerves I have less patience and love towards which contradicts God's love at the very deepest passion. Christ had so much love for us that He sent his son and He forgives all that we do. As far as the east is from the west He has removed my sins. How amazing.

This week was a good week. I had a birthday party in my room and I had five family members a photographer, a video camera all in my room. I felt like I was at a celebrities birthday party. What makes it even weirder is that the parents of this student only speak french and a little bit of english so i couldn't understand him and he couldn't understand me. Then as I was getting my class to line up I got proposed to by the photographer. This seems to be a pattern for me this weekend. So i got proposed to twice in one day which is pretty typical here however it has not been so in your face as it was on Friday. Other than this I had a roommate date with the two other girls I live with up stairs. We found this really cute Chinese restaurant that was really good and pretty cheap. It was nice to get away and then come back and just relax.

So I have some exciting news so one of my roommates Meghann and me are planning a spring break trip and we have been thinking about it for a while and we decided that Germany is where we wanted to go. We did not want to just go to look around but we wanted to do some type of ministry so we started thinking about what missionaries we could go and help with their ministry. I don't know if you remember when I went to Germany on a missions trip my sophomore year at Cedarville, but we contacted the missionaries that I worked with and it looks like we are going to be able to go help run the youth group that they work with over Easter. We would spend a week in Germany getting to see some of the country and then also helping with the youth group on Tuesday night, and hopefully do somethings for the missionary also. This is a big prayer request also because the details are still be worked out. God is faithful though so He will provide.

This week at school we had two dress down days one to raise money for Haiti which our school raised over 1,000 ghana cedes for. THen on THursday we had Ghana day because the black star soccer team was playing in semi finals for the african cup, which they won. THey play tonight against Egypt for the championship, so a lot of people are going to OSu tonight to watch the game. HOpefully Ghana will bring home the cup! We are hoping to make this a tradition at AIS to for a Ghana day each week where we can wear Ghana shirts or jerseys.

To end I want to share a chorus with you from a song that I have fallen in love this week

I know my God saved the day, and I know His word never fails and I know my God made a way for me, salvation is here. Salvation is here and He lives in me because You are alive and You live in me.

I want to keep this in my heart this week.

Jesus be my anchor

This past week was very interesting. In a good way and a bad way. We started the week off well talking about Noah and the ark and what Genesis 3 means to Noah. On tuesday our classroom had a little bit with someone drawing on a desk. I had to become a strict teacher and had to cut out fun for a little while. We have been learning also about God's promises. My schedule has been switch again, which is okay if I can help someone else have a little better day I am okay with that. Today at church the youth had the worship and they talked about their youth trip. Some students gave their testimonies and it was really encouraging to the other teachers that I was with because it gave us something to see the impact that we have on these students and that their testimonies are going to be used in marvelous ways. A song we sang today was really amazing and I wanted to put it on here.

I stand by your throne,
I lay down all my thoughts
(dreams) at your feet
your blood washes me

you came you gave it all away
I magnify your holy name

Jesus Anchor of my soul
I worship you forever
I stand before your throne
cover me with your sweet fragrance
anchor me with your faithfulness
hold me in your peace

ruin me, ruin me, ruin me, ruin me for anything else.

I can only hope this is my prayer.

This week I learned that I need to constantly be in prayer for these students, they come to school with a lot on their minds. Am I being compassionate and ready to be patient with them even though I may not know their backgrounds and what is going in their lives. Pray that I may be Christ for those students that don't know Him, pray that I have patience with those who defy me and question me. Pray I keep the joy of the Lord during the whole day of school.

The week of adventures

Wow, This week at school has been an adventure my students are definitely over the honeymoon stage of being back at school. However, this week we have finished through the first 5 chapters of Genesis and we are starting Noah and I am really excited about teaching Bible and really getting my students into the stories of the old testament and how they relate to Christ.

This semester we have some new traditions this semester.
1. Every Monday I tutor till 5.30 and then go to Bible study
2. Tuesday I am going to the orphanage after our staff meeting
3. Tuesday is Upstairs family dinner
4. Wednesday Bible Study on Jonah or Joseph

I am so excited about where God is leading me. Please pray for opportunities to share Christ with my students. Pray that my attitude stays positive throughout the day and that I will have patience with my students.

thank you for the prayers and support that you give me.

Something that hit me today...

Today in class we were talking about Genesis 3 and how we were made perfect in God's image and then the devil persuaded Eve. Then as I was reading for my Bible study it talked about how influential women are. If this was not true why wouldn't the serpent go to the man first, he didn't he went to the women. That just really got me thinking how am I going to be influential. I was reading about how Paul and Barnabas were persecuted in Acts 13 and 14 and they rejoiced. I was reading a quote from a missionary who lost their life in China and right before he went to the field he said this to a graduating class at Moody
" Let us remind ourselves that the Great Commission was never qualified by clauses calling for advance only if funds were plentiful and no hardship or self denial involved . On the contrary, we are told to expect tribulation and even persecution, but with it victory in Christ... It is ours to show, in the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ and in personal communion with Him, a joy unspeakable and full of glory that cannot be affected by outside circumstances."
-- John Stam a faithful martyrs of Jesus Christ to China

How amazing is that call. I ask myself Am I ready to take that calling and I challenge you to ask yourself that same question. I know this blog is kind of out of sorts for me but this is a huge prayer request that as I teach I influence my students to take on the full commitment of Christ and not just the rainbows and sunshine but through the hardships.

first week of school

This first week of school has been difficult, getting back into the swing of things. It was nice seeing my students again. The first day back I only had ten students out of my 15. It was nice to have a small class to work with. I feel like we got a lot accomplished. The only bad thing is now I have five students I have to get caught up with everything we did this past week. In Bible we have started in the beginning in Genesis and we learned about the days of creation and next week we are starting with the fall of men. This is a prayer request because we have been talking about how men were made in the image of God which means we were created perfect because God is perfect. They brought up that no one is perfect. So it is going to be good to talk about Genesis three in light of knowing that we were made perfect due to being made in the image of God. Report cards went out this week so I am probably going to have at least one parent teacher conferences. I am excited to be back with my students and my classroom. This week has been exhausting. I am glad the first week is over and I can get back into my routine again. I also start tutoring again on Monday. I am going to be tutoring two students this semester on monday, wednesday, and thursday. So i will be tutoring from 3.30-5.30 so it will be a long day. I hope also to be apart of a bible study on Monday nights, and Wednesday nights. So this semester holds a lot for me. Thanks for all the prayer support and support that you give me while I am over here.

Back in Ghana

I got back to Ghana on Friday night at about 10:30pm which was an hour late but made it. The trip was long and exciting. First of all my flight from America to Paris was like an hour and a half late or something like that which left me about 20 minutes to make my flight in Paris. I was a little nervous that I was not going to miss my flight because they were already boarding so I had to rush to my flight but made it. Then I slept on my 45 min flight to London. When I got to London I was fine because I had like 4 hrs or something and so it was nice. I got to relax. While in the airport I met a couple of people that were going to Ghana that had lived in the states and so I got to talk to them for a little bit. It was nice to see people going to the same place that I was going and I also got to practice speaking Tweet which is the language some of the ghanians speak which I only know a couple of words. Once I finally got on the plane I was excited to finally be going back to Ghana. However, our plane was delayed like an hour because 8 people decided to check bags and then not show up for the flight so we had to sit on the plane while their luggage was taken off. Then at 10:30 we finally got to Ghana. As I was going through immigrations which is always a little nerve wracking, was a breeze. I got a really nice guy who I had a conversation with which started off speaking in a little tweet and ending with him telling me I should find a ghanian husband because I should stay in Ghana, which I responded to as I will see with a laugh. Once I went through immigrations I went to get my bags. I stood there and waited with my cart which I found quickly this time. However I stood there and stood there and soon no more luggage was coming around the belt so I saw my friend that I met from Kumasi and he had one of the ghanian guys that were there help me so I went to aviance which is the lost luggage center for international flights and I filled a report. The guy said come tomorrow and they should be here. So I went back yesterday and they had not arrived yet but the guy looked in the computer and said that they would be arriving on the 9:30 flight from London and and that he did not know what time they would be coming to him so he suggested to come back tomorrow morning. So I woke up this morning to go to the airport with Isaac to pick up the Crosby s and my luggage however, Laurie called me like 10 min. ago and informed me that their flight had been delayed to 11 something so I have not gone yet to see if they are in which I think they are. So now I am just chilling in my room until Isaac comes and picks me up. Being in Ghana has been good so far.
