wow! I cant believe that the first week of school is over. It has been crazy here trying to get everything put together and ready but it happend. THe first day went really fast and I got to know my kids and what worked and what didnt really fast. I realized that each of these students have a lot of different strengths and disablities. My class has lots of different personalities adn they mix pretty well. Teaching has been a lot of fun so far and I am so excited about our Bible class. God is good and our Bible times have been really good. Friday my students started talking about the trinity. We also have been talking about God's big plan and how different things or people are apart of this plan. We looked at how Jesus was part of it and we started looking how we are apart of the plan. My students have been asking some really good questions. we start every class with Bible and pray. Then we sing This is the Day. We then go on with the rest of our main subjects.
I never knew how tiring it would be to have my own classroom and have to do all of the work. I mean you get a little bit of it during student teaching but it is nothing compared to teaching. I love comming home and relaxing and then making dinner. That is probably one of my new favorite things to do is cook. I have experimenting with so many things and they have been pretty good. I have made home made pizza and french fries which i have made with my family when i was younger. It is a taste of home which is always refreshing. This morning we made pancakes and syrup from scratch they were pretty good. They could have been a little thicker but we know for next time that we add more flour.
Last night we got invited over to one of my student's house for dinner. It was amazing it was like a banquet. This family is an amazing christian family who blesses our school not only financially but with their prayers. One thing that was amazing yesterday was a nestle coffee dispenser. It was amazing it gave not only coffee but hot chocolate. This family is going to buy two of these to put into the school, one in elementary and another in the high school. God has been blessing us since we got here. Today we are going to a new place called Osou.
Continue to pray for adjusting to the food and the different bacteria, this week it has really been effecting me. Also for the students and our class as we continue the year together. We picked our class verse and it is Psalm 27.1 The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear. The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid.

My classroom is finished!!!! School is going to be starting on MONDAY!!!! Here are some pictures of my finished classroom. I am so excited about my first day of teaching on Monday. I am sure that I am going to have amazing stories.

I survived the first week!!
So I have been here a week and I can't believe it. I feel like I have been here for longer than that. On Sunday I went to a new church called Agape, this church is mostly ghanian with an american preacher. It was really good and the people just worship they don't care who is watching they do it for God. It is AMAZING. Tonight was our parent meeting and it was awesome. I loved meeting some of my parents and three of my students. We also found out today that we are not going to be able to start on time because it is just not safe for the students to be in the building. So we are going to start on Monday God willing. Hopefully my buliteen boards will be up tommorrow so that I can start decorating my classroom. I can't wait till I can decorate with all of my fun decorations and posters. This weekend I also got to make a lot of things that remind me of home for instance, I made hommade french fries for my roomates adn me. Then we made hommade pizza also. It was so good. Now i am just waiting to decorate and finish planning which is almost done because I have to use the three days from this week. I cant wait for school to start I am so excited.

The Market
Today we met some of the PTO representatives from AIS. They were really nice and they gave all the new teachers a crash course in Ghana etiquette. It was a lot of information and we got to put into practice some of it as we were put into a market that was a little crazy. Some of these rules are
always use your right hand NEVER your left unless your right hand is being used with it. Wave with an open hand, dont move your fingers down towards your palm to wave because that means come here.
Whenever you come into a room say goodmorning before starting the conversation or if not having a conversation still say it.
Pedistrations Don't have the right away. ( we found that out at the market)
We also learned many words much of which I cant remember but can recognize when said.
We did get to go to a market with our PTO reps. This was a lot of fun and a learning experience. We started off looking at african fabric which was really neat. I bought some fabric for some Christmas presants which I am really excited about. I can't wait to get some more for me!!! Then we got into the crazy part of the market. You can't even imagine how crazy busy it was and how it smelt. As a group we were walking through the streets and these big vans would come so close to hitting us. Thanks to our cat like reflexs we all stayed safe. After walking around the market for about three hours we were tired and hungry so we got to go to this inn for lunch by the Atlantic Ocean. It was beautiful and I wish I had my camera so that I could show you how beautiful it was. Then we got back home around 5 pm exhausted from the fun and eye opening day. However, when we got home we battled against big bugs. Just kidding one Cockroach that my roommate Christy had difficulty killing but dont worry it got put back outside so hopefully it wont come in again.

5. SKYPE- I get to communicate with friends that are in Brazil and in the USA.
6. Our internet is really good
7. we have only had the electricity go out on us once and that was only about 10 mins last Saturday.
Prayer request
1. COntinue to pray for the school it is still under construction and painting. We are hopefully going to be able to start school on time on WEDNESDAY.
2. We get to meet the parents of our studnets on Monday and the parent meeting which is supposed to be held at the school
3. Pray that my debt card works at the Stanbic Bank so that I can get money from my account
4. Pray that my body continues to adjust to the food and the different bacteria here and that I stay healthy. Last night I wasnt feeling to well and woke up with a fever and shivering from being cold probably a reaction to something I ate.
5. First day of school just to prepare my students and me for the upcomming school year
God is good and I can't wait to share stories of the classroom and pictures. By the way pictures of my house and my room and of Ghana are comming soon I want a whole bunch before I put them on.

I am in Ghana !!!!
TRAVELING
I am finally in Ghana and it has been a crazy two days. I left on Thursday night not feeling very well at all. I made it to London at about 11. 25am and I hung out there for about 2 hours after re going through security and everything like that. The flight to London was pretty long but I slept through most of it. Then when I got to London I asked myself around the airport because I really didn't know what or where I was going! I finally got to the terminal where I needed to be and found out that they do not put your gate up until an hour before your flight so I was a little nervous about that but it was not that bad. When I finally got on my flight to Ghana I got to sit next to a really nice guy from Holland. It happened that he was coming to Ghana to help build homes for teachers to live in up North so that the kids could get good education. He was going with a big group on a missions trip so it was nice to talk to him. It was a good trip and we talked for some of it in between eating and sleeping. I finally made it to Accra at around 8. 20 and so did my LUGGAGE !!!! which was so exciting. When I got back to the Palace ( pictures soon to come) i pretty much fixed my bed and went to sleep.
FIRST FULL DAY IN ACCRA
This day was really exciting but i still did not feel the best so I really was not looking forward to doing anything. However, God had a different plan my roommates wanted to go to an orphanage and so I went with them and those children were such a blessing. They loved seeing us they almost tackled us when we walked in the door. They all had huge smiles on. I thought to myself i am feeling sorry for myself because I don't feel very well and these children they glow whenever they get company and they have almost nothing and it made my attitude change really fast, being with those kids made me forget that i wasn't feeling good and it perked the rest of my day up. Then last night my roommates and I made our first meal of rice and vegetables and it was really good. I also had my first taste of mango which was really good.
SECOND FULL DAY IN ACCRA
wow I cant believe i have been in Accra for two whole days now, although it feels like i have been here for a long time. I never knew i would adjust so well to everything. Today we got up and went to an international church which was very interesting but good. then we went to the mall so that me and another girl could get our cell phones and some other things that we needed. One thing you can pray about is that my debt card works in the atms, because it is a MasterCard it didn't work in the atm we went to today. If it doesn't work on any other atm I am going to have to switch banks and things which is going to be difficult since i am here and not in the states. I am also having a little difficulty with my visa gift cards so those would be two big prayer request as i try to figure things out. Tomorrow we start teacher orientation so that is really exciting and I cannot wait to get to know all the old teachers better. another prayer request is that the school is not finished yet with the construction so we don't know for sure if we can start class when we are supposed to so pray for that. We all know God is good and He takes care of us.
